Perth Rockpool Restaurant How did you experience this project given you were based in Melbourne? With the level of finesse demanded in a restaurant development of Rockpool’s class, an architect could be forgiven for pre-empting a plethora of agonising issues from go to woe. Not so, in this case! With a down-to-earth and highly knowledgeable crew in the Burswood management team, primarily on-the-ball consultants and our own architectural wiz (Peter Hobbs) keeping everything ticking along on the ground in Perth, it was largely a productive, cooperative and satisfying process through until the first Wagyu ascended the grill. With a multitude of glass types, fabrics, stone, metals and timbers, there was no shortage of detail resolution along the way. The Lavastone for our joinery was treated to some rough seas en route from Italy but thankfully only one casualty. With Grant Cheyne’s highly refined design sensibility and a craftsman-like joiner on board, the finer details were to maketh the restaurant.
